ABOUT

Mettje Hunneman is a visual artist and founder of VIDEOLAB, an independent art studio based at the Shore in Leith, Edinburgh. Her projection design creates immersive experiences across art, performance, and public space.
Hailing from Amsterdam’s vibrant art&music scene, she explores the visual rhythms that echo the energy of movement and music. These visual choreographies unfold across large-scale projection works, light sculptures, multi-screen installations, and off-grid outdoor video projection mapping artworks.
Since 2005, she has developed and presented ambitious projection works throughout Scotland, with commissions and collaborations including Kelburn Garden Party, Leith Theatre, Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, Pianodrome, Edinburgh Mela, and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Hunneman is known for delivering visually rich projects with clarity, and flair—often working at the intersection of art and live events.
Educated in the Netherlands, she graduated cum laude in Audiovisual Design and went on to complete a two-year full-time residency at De Ateliers, Amsterdam’s prestigious international postgraduate art programme, studying under artists including Marlene Dumas and Steve McQueen.
